Out look of the fitness industry:  These days people are becoming more aware of how important it is to take care of their bodies. Today looking good is important at any age. Fitness is everywhere. Everywhere you look someone has a new way to "get fit." With all the gadgets and contraptions out there it can be a little overwhelming. I have friends who buy the latest fitness gadgets on t.v. only to find it sitting in the corner collecting dust. Without the motivation and drive these things can turn into a waste of money. Knowledge and guidance are important for a trainer to get their clients on the right track to what is a safe and effective workout. Also developing healthy eating habits, getting adequate rest and tuning in to how your body feels on each given day will help you will reach your long term goals.  
 
Training Philosophy:  Getting to know each and every client is a way to understand what they enjoy about exercising. Fitness has to be fun and stimulating or else boredom and lack of motivation starts setting in. We will work together to accomplish your goals and strive to create a lifestyle with fitness being an important part of everyday. Nutrition is an important key to how you look and feel, so I will evaluate the clients current diet and give examples of healthier food choices. Strength training with proper form and cardio are the two other major factors for overall health, and I will include both into my programs.

MethodologyI believe in “doing whatever it takes to reach a certain goal”.  This belief comes from years of training with amateur and professional athletes as well as having participated in competitive bodybuilding.  This kind of experience has taught me the drive and discipline that it takes to reach a desired goal.   I feel very fortunate to have been blessed with some great trainers and it is the knowledge that I have gained from them that has launched my personal training business and allowed me to successfully compete.

Outlook on the fitness industryWe are talking about a lifestyle , not a gadget or fad.  A commitment to a healthy lifestyle is just that:  a Commitment.  A “get fit quick” program may get quick results, but the results will surely fade.  Hard work and dedication, commitment, will get the results that you are looking for.

Training Philosophy:  There are three basic ingredients:  Cardio, Weight Training and proper Nutrition. Leave out any one of these and the journey to being fit will be much longer and more difficult.  I work with clients who train at all levels and they each recognize the importance of balancing all three. We begin by evaluating where you are and where you want to be, eating habits, how active you’ve been in the last year, any medical conditions, etc.  A release from a family physician is also required to begin the training process.

I have designed a Cardio Conference ProgramÔ  to motivate my clients to get their cardio work done first thing in the morning, and also, to give individuals that work out at home access to a personal trainer.  This program is offered to in-studio clients free of charge. Weight training and cardio are the two other major elements for overall health, and I include both into my programs.

MethodologyBasically, my methodology is this:  I believe that I know what works to create a lean and defined body; what it takes to help guide a body that is out of shape to a more fit and healthy physique.  I have created programs for many, many individuals over the years and seen amazing transformations.  We all may not compete in fitness contests down the road, but we all CAN achieve the best body that God has given us.  If you want motivation and direction in that regard, I am your man.

Outlook on the Fitness IndustryI have utmost respect for those in the profession who have gone through the process of certifications.  I intend at this junction in my career to attain these certifications.  However, I have always been a "doer".  I have not gotten certifications thus for because of the same reasoning that I have not taken formal art classes:  I have not wanted someone else's subjective reasoning placed on me.  Self-study has been my schooling.  I have created programs over the years that WORK.  My body and those that I have helped 'create' are testaments to that.  I usually point to an out of shape person carrying a clipboard with "ABC Training" stamped on the trainer's tee shirt.  All I ask is this:  do you want to have someone show you how to create a better body who lives the life... or do you want to work with someone who has gone to school and does not practice what they preach?  If you are going to be in the profession, at least live the part.  How can a trainer encourage someone to lose weight if that trainer is overweight him/herself?  How can one train another if that individual won't train him/herself?  To reiterate, however, I am going through the process to attain various certifications now; I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE INVALUABLE.  If you find a trainer who is very fit, lives the healthy lifestyle and has certifications of expertise behind him or her, you have indeed found a wonderful 'teacher' who is willing to not only study the profession, but also live and lead by example. 

Training PhilosophyAll-inclusive.  I believe in balance of aerobic, weight training and nutrition.  Consulting your family practitioner would be a requirement to train with me.  I also will create fitness profiles and regimens for those across the nation on a consulting basis.  Training for a better body is for EVERYONE.  If you are obese, or overweight, or chubby, or chunky, or a little flabby, or lean but need work, or CUT... you can achieve more.  Do not be intimidated to just START, at whatever level you are now.  That is the most difficult step in any process.  Starting.  Once you are committed to starting a fitness cycle, then you must have the dedication and desire to follow it through.  Start slow.  Work towards the goals you set for yourself (make them realistic) to achieve a better body, a better 'you' and a better outlook on yourself and your life.  But, you cannot "DO" it... unless you START.

MethodologyTeaching the understanding of how the body builds, grows, loses and develops is the key to getting clients to meet their health & fitness goals.  If you are just told or shown what to do, you may not be as taken to continue since it may seem like just work to you, but if you yourself know why you eat certain foods and know what they do for you, and you understand the necessity for proper form in your workouts, as well as how long to exercise and why each exercise is so important, then you will continue to follow your diet and workout.  Making sure you have and easily understand all the information in a most "non-technical" way is my initial objective.  To love your meals and your workouts is most important, that is what will give you the incentive to have drive and inspiration to quickly see your progression into a healthier you.
 
Outlook on the Fitness Industry In general, the Fitness Industry has two intentions, one; to make money, and two; to help people reach their health & fitness goals.  Bottles of this and bottles of that will only empty your pocket and give you false hope, you will think those pills will convert you to Superman or Wonder Woman and you will starve yourself of needed nutrients from natural foods.  Late night "Buy now, limited time offer" sales on fitness equipment is in itself outright lying to you, those ads are up everyday, every month, every year, and they usually end up as clothes hangers, dust collectors, and yard sale items, unless you understand the process it takes to make those band-pulling, bow-flexing, cable-stretching pieces of equipment work for you.  Of course they don't explain to you that you won't get your results if you're not eating properly, they are just in it for the quick sale.  It are those who train hard for years, who study their own body as well as others more advanced than them, and who learn all that they can about exercise physiology and proper nutrition who are the ones that can provide you with the results you are looking for.  I find a lot of my clients to say "but my last trainer told me this", and I ask "did he/she tell you why?". 

Training Philosophy:  Don't just do what you are told, don't just follow someone else, ask why and understand the reasoning, otherwise you will fall short of your accomplishments by not addressing all points that are needed and that will easily and effectively give you your desired goals in the reasonable time you want them in.  If you know why something happens then you know whether you want to do it or not, if you are just told it then you will have uncertainties.  Eating healthy and working out is not tasteless and boring, you are able to eat the foods you like and you are able to enjoy your workouts, you just have to learn how much and when by professionals who really want you to meet your goals.

Methodology Injuries don't heal on their own, you need to get up off your "fanny" and actively rebuild your injured area with functional, effective exercises.  The more educated you are as to what is happening with your body, the more likely you will put the work into it!  With rehab or functional training each individual is assessed then has a program designed that will help them reach their goal. Goal setting, nutrition and training are all important aspects to your successful.  Lay a solid foundation then build from there!  All aspects for smart effective training that produce results are covered!

Outlook on the Fitness Industry:  The fitness industry is definitely a business and there are effective training tools and information as well as information and tools that waste both your time and money!  Take the good, leave the bad.  If you don't know which is what, ask someone qualified.

Training Philosophy:  You need to evaluate what you want out of life, what your goals are and go for it!  Your mind can be your biggest asset or your greatest limiting factor.  Make your choice.
